I decided to read this book after seeing the movie "Invictus." I love to read autobiographies of important historical figures, people who have made a difference in the world. This book is very well written and readable. The thing that strikes me most is the honesty of Mr. Mandela. He is not trying to paint himself as anything but a human being. His humility is apparent as you read the details of his life, including his mistakes. His life is an incredible example of persistence infaced with circumstances unimaginable. E 'disappointing read of how humans can treat each other on the basis of unimportant external circumstances. As you read the apartheid in South Africa in this book, you come to realize just how horrible. All my reading of the book, made me reflect apartheid "that has occurred in our country during that period of history that this book covers. The amazing aspect of the story is Mr. Mandela's attitude toward hisoppressor and the fact that when his party came to power that the roles are not simply been reversed. This book is what I recommend to anyone interested in the history of the world and cares about freedom and equality.
